Teaching the Art of the Business of Print on Demand and Graphic Design Symmetry

This is a great flashback to Yvette English and I managing a Discord Channel dedicated to this very topic. We have since switched from teaching people to fish to fishing but it is a lovely memory nonetheless. It is also one of the greatest lessons learned. People who really want to do something, will read, study, follow instructions and not expect you to do it for them. If you have to do it for them, you are fulfilling their dream. So for the readers, here is one of Yvette’s jewels:

Renaming to Create a Brand (for free):
This step involves renaming your artwork. This is before you ever put it on a product. This is so when you share it in social media, and your website it’s already identified as your creation.

PRINTFUL BUT ALSO WORKS ON YOYCOL:

  1. You design and name the general sweatshirt, “gummy bears rocking out”.
  2. Next renaming happens after you push your product/s to the store and download the mockups.
  3. You download the mockups and use a bulk renaming tool, to change Printful’s file name to match your filename.
  4. So, “all over print leggings-left-98765545677.jpg” becomes “gummy-bears-rocking-out-leggings-left-98765545677.jpg”.
  5. Now you upload the renamed mockups to the website.
  6. Match the renamed mockups to the products.
  1. Update the product.
  2. Switch to Printful and go to your store and “Sync WooCommerce [Your Store] Products”
  3. Match your WooCommerce [Your Store] Product image to Printful’s Product in your Template file.
  4. Sync
  5. Your custom-named mockups will replace Printful’s on the Printful site.

Instructions for Renaming and Uploading Images:

  1. Locate Images: Browse your computer using File Explorer or the Photos app to find the images you want to rename and upload.
  2. Select Images: Click on your chosen images while holding down the Shift or Ctrl key to select multiple files. Alternatively, use the ‘Select All’ option or press Ctrl+A to select all images in a folder.
  3. Rename First Image: Right-click on the first image and select ‘Rename’ or press F2. Enter the new name, incorporating your business name and a brief description, like ‘ABC_Logo’. For multiple similar images, number them sequentially (e.g., ABC_Logo_1, ABC_Logo_2).
  4. Rename Additional Images: Repeat the renaming process for each image. For efficiency, consider using a batch renaming tool like Easy File Renamer or Fotor.
  5. Upload Images: Once renamed, upload your images to a photo editor like Pixlr, Canva, or Photoshop Express. Use the ‘Upload’ option or drag and drop the images into the editor.

These steps will help you efficiently rename and manage your images for business or personal use.
