Memory Dial… When is a Raven like a Writing Desk?

Hell, I don’t know. I am delirious, my hands hurt and I feel like I am in a virtual editing room. There are not wayward clips of film all over the floor. No, there are hundred of videos, images, voiceovers, special effects, sound effects, created in four different environments (because credits, lol) and I am over here trying to not only stick to the script I wrote, but keep it all organized.

This is not a complaint. This is pure excitement. I made a choice, right after earning enough extra SAG work hours to finally get paid SAG rate. And then, I found out I was pregnant. In 1990, my chosen profession always had an exit plan. Once the agency told me, we already have a Black girl (mind you I knew and loved this particular girl. She was 5’4″, Vanessa Williams twin, and did print work, specifically catalogues. I was more Venus Williams twin 5’10”, 125lbs, and did runway and couture fashion), I switched to acting. It was the first love anyway. But that wasn’t the exit plan, it is what got me the hours on set to get into SAG. My pregnancy triggered the exit plan, Political Science. More of that another time, the point is this has been with me for over 3 decades. I was ahead of the curve trying to do this for Unravel four years ago and still made some great scenes but a complete episode, no.

Memory Dial. What’s it about? I will say this. Dark City went on a date with Groundhog Day. Fell in love and gave birth to Russian Doll and…Memory Dial. It’s a great story. It’s funny, quirky, and there is a real plot. Real characters. From my head. lol.
